I chose this image because this was taken at the time when Japan bombed Australia!  Japan first bombed Darwin’s harbour and thats it, destroyed.

My Rich Questions

  • How did this affect Australia?

  • Why did Japan bomb Darwin?

  • Why did This Happen?

It was the year 1942 Febuary, when Darwin was bombed  by Japan. Japan bombed Darwin because Japan wanted to take over Australia because of Australia’s resources and they wanted to take over the world by taking over all the south east Asian countries then they will have a bigger stronger army to take over the world, but they failed to take over them but made a big war.

This Happened in world war II

I chose these images because Japan wanted to take over all these country’s in south east Asia. And if they did there plan was to make Japan a stronger, bigger country and then they will try to take over the world.

A bomb disposal squad preparing to remove a live bomb after an air raid on Darwin, 1942

I chose this image because this is one of Darwin’s Military bases. And back then people were warned not to go near the bases, and us you can see on the image there’s a sign saying “DANGER live bombs”.

How did this affect Australia?

This affected Australia because Japan destroyed Darwin’s military bases that caused Australia to fight back hard and that would mean war. The war was really bad in Darwin 245 people were killed and 300-400 people were seriously injured. When Japan bombed Darwin’s bases, Japan had the latest weapons that completely destroyed one of the bases. The battle didn’t take long it took around 20-25 minutes for Japan to attack Darwin’s bases, Australia fort back and ended up winning the battle. The war went for a year if Australia had lost the war Australia would be Japanese and Australians will be Japanese so we thank the solders that fort in the war for us and those who died they died as warriors.

Why Did Japan Bomb Darwin?

In 1942 Japan declared war over the world, they have just come back from bombing the pearl harbour in Hawaii when they were planning to bomb Timor, when they realised they needed to protected and defend themselves. Darwin was close by to Timor and if Japan Bombed Timor they will be attacked by Darwin because Darwin had two Military army bases and they will get court by bombing Timor because Australia/Darwin would want to defend themselves by attacking there aircrafts. So they decided they will bomb Darwin and scare the Australian military so they will not attack them but that caused war!

Why did this happen?

This happened because Japan wanted to take over the world by taking over all the south East Asian countries by making Japan a stronger and bigger country then they will have the power to take over the world. Their plan was to bomb them hard which they did but failed to take over them. They first bombed China then bombed Hawaii’s Pearl harbour to get America’s attention but America didn’t take that nicely, they luanched a deadly atomic  bomb on Japan in Hiroshima which killed 66,000 people out of a population of 255,000 people! then Japan were planning to bomb Timor but lucky for Timor they were close to Australia. Darwin had two military bases so if Japan bombed Timor Darwin will bomb them by protecting Australia

This was the bomb that America dropped on Hiroshima it was called “The Little Boy”  It was 3 m long and it weighed 4,000 kg,the bomb took 3 years to make.

When Japan bombed Pearl Harbour Darwin was next on the list to bomb. If you read this article you can see they are warning the people of Darwin that Japanese planes have been seen around darwin, Japan was flying around Darwin for a week. Darwin didn’t know whats going to happen they were wondering why Japanese palnes were flying around the place?

If you look in the background you can see Darwin’s Harbour bombed by Japan. The first target that Japan wanted to destroy was Darwin’s Harbour.

the reason why I didn’t do anything else like carlton fc is because 1 I wasen’t aloud to do carlton and 2 I wanted to learn something I don’t know:)

  4. Hi Joseph,
Your personal learning is very good and has a lot of information. I have learnt a lot. I reckon you could put a bit more on your bubble.us. But other than that it is very good. You have put good pictures but next time add more please.
I am wondering why you chose this topic?
    Well Done!

  5. You’ve added a lot of information Joseph! I really like how you put facts and pictures on. This was quite a long time ago so I’m hoping Australia’s social life with other countries is better now! It might be a good idea to explain your maps a bit more but other than that, great job!

    • Hi Eden, thanks for the comment on my blog but I don’t really see how you can explain a map. I will try to anyway 🙂
